What's My Skin Type?
When choosing the proper skin care products it is important to first identify your skin type and buy products according to the individual needs of your skin. Here are some guidelines to aid in the selection process:
DRY SKIN: Usually mature skin, lacks moisture or emollients, less elastic, acne breakouts are rare, feels tight after cleansing, and usually has small pores.
This skintype needs moisture supplementaion. Get additional moisture by choosing creams rather than lotions or gels, as creams often have a richer feel and remain on the surface of the skin longer. Creams with antioxidant (Anti-Aging) benefits are ideal for this skintype. Opting for cream cleansers will also provide additional moisture.

Babor Vita Balance, iS Clinical, Neova, & SkinMedica.
NORMAL SKIN: Smooth & even texture, healthy color, not too dry & not too oily, acne breakouts are rare, & medium pore size.
This skintype needs products that are pH-balanced, which won't negatively effect the moisture level of the skin. Light-weight lotions with slight exfoliation are a great option for this skin type, and neutral cleansers without excessive levels of exfoliants are recommended for daily use.

AFA Amino Acids, MD Formulations, SkinWithin, & Revision.
OILY SKIN: Prone to acne breakouts, large pores, accumulates shininess throughout the day, high elasticity & few wrinkles.
This skintype should look for Oil-Free products that are non-comedogenic (won't clog pores). Products with strong exfoliation properties are highly recommended to combat excessive oil production. Moisturizers should be primarily in gel forms, preferably containing oil absorbers like silica (see our Ingredient Glossary for more).

Glytone, Cellex-C, Obagi, & Neostrata.
SENSITIVE SKIN: Blotchy & dry patches, thin & delicate skin, burns easily, medium to large pores, prone to rosacea-related acne breakouts.
This skintype should look for fragrance-free and/or hypoallergenic formulas without harsh exfoliants. Opt for a powdered sunscreens over lotions with sunscreen, and a mild, pH-neutral cleanser is a great idea, too.
